What is the process ...
Welcome to Skin Misfits Tattoo, where your tattoo experience begins with comfort and professionalism. Once you’ve chosen your design and artist, you’ll be presented with a consent form. After completing the necessary paperwork, you’ll be escorted to the tattoo chair, which can be in an open work area or a private room, depending on your preference.
If you’re shy and prefer privacy, just let us know, and we’ll accommodate your needs. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable throughout the tattooing process.
Now, it’s time to prepare for your tattoo. The chosen area of your body will be meticulously cleaned with rubbing alcohol, ensuring proper hygiene. Any hair in the area will be carefully removed using a disposable razor, even if it’s not visible, as even the finest hairs can cause complications.
The area will then be cleaned again to ensure it’s smooth and ready for the transfer.
Next, your stencil will be created, enhancing the transfer of your design onto your skin. Our skilled artists may utilize a stencil applicator or Savlon to achieve a darker and more vibrant transfer. Once the paper is removed, you’ll see a striking purple-ish blue likeness of your future tattoo.
While you appreciate the stunning design, your artist will diligently prepare their tattoo machine. Using sterile pouches, they’ll remove the needles and tubes and place them in the machine.
The inks will be accurately poured into tiny cups called “ink caps,” and clean, distilled water will be available for needle cleaning and color changes. Additionally, a clean surface will provide A&D ointment or Vaseline for your personal use.
It’s time to get down to business!
Your artist will apply a small amount of ointment over your transfer design, ensuring it remains intact and allowing the needle to glide smoothly across your skin for a more comfortable experience. Once the ointment is applied, your artist will begin with the first line, skillfully bringing your tattoo to life.
When your tattoo is complete, it’s crucial to treat it like a wound. To prevent infection, a protective layer of ointment will be applied, followed by a securely taped bandage. It’s important to follow your artist’s instructions and keep the bandage on until the next morning.
At Skin Misfits Tattoo, we prioritize your comfort, safety, and the longevity of your tattoo. Welcome to Lester’s Land, where art is everlasting.
What about aftercare ...
Introducing our Day-by-Day Aftercare Guide, a must-read for all tattoo enthusiasts. In the first few days after getting inked, remember one golden rule: stay away! Your tattoo will be wrapped in protective plastic, and it’s vital to keep it that way. You can remove the plastic on day two or three, but consult your artist for specific instructions.
On day three, once the original bandage is removed, it’s time to cleanse your tattoo. Use an antibacterial soap like Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap or any unscented antibacterial liquid. Avoid using cloth as it can exfoliate the tattooed area, which is essentially a wound. Rinse with warm-to-mild temperature water and gently pat dry with a towel. Allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes before moving forward.
For days 3-5, remember to touch your tattoo only with clean hands. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap, making sure to rub your palms together for as long as it takes to recite the alphabet. Repeat the process of washing your tattoo 2-5 times a day and follow it with a light layer of ointment. You may wrap the tattoo in plastic on the first night to prevent sticking, but afterward, ensure the design is uncovered to allow for ventilation.
As you reach day five and beyond, keeping the tattooed area well-moisturized is essential. Consider using petrolatum ointment, a simple and economical option that promotes healing and is rarely allergenic. If the tattoo is on your hands, keeping it covered with a bandaid can help retain the ointment during the healing process.
At Skin Misfits Tattoo, we prioritize your tattoo’s longevity and your comfort. Trust our Day-by-Day Aftercare Guide to ensure optimal healing. Welcome to Lester’s Land, where art and passion converge.
